R&D Consultant - HVAC

Role Purpose

To provide deep technical leadership and strategic guidance to transform Blue Star’s chiller business into a globally competitive, technology-led, cost-efficient, and fast-innovation organization by strengthening design capability, accelerating product development, improving manufacturing processes, and enabling adoption of next-generation refrigeration, electronics, and control technologies.

Key Challenges to Address

• High cost and pricing challenges versus global competitors.

• Slow product development cycles and delayed technology adoption.

• Limited in-house depth in electronics, drives, and digital controls.

• Rapidly shrinking product lifecycles in commercial HVAC and data center market.

• Limited exposure to global best practices in advanced chiller manufacturing.

• Late entry into emerging trends in compressors, variable drives, and control systems.

• Need to shift from traditional manufacturing to configurable, customized, modular platforms.

• Lack of global technology benchmarking and structured technology roadmap.

  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Define chiller design architecture and modular platform strategy.

• Advise on next-gen compressors, drives, electronics, and control systems.

• Enable configurable and modular chiller platforms.

• Improve manufacturing processes and cost structures.

• Drive design-for-cost and design-for-manufacturability.

• Support data center cooling solutions architecture.

• Provide global benchmarking and competitive technology insights.

• Mentor internal teams and enable knowledge transfer.

• Accelerate innovation and technology integration cycles.

  
  

Technical Competencies

• Deep expertise in chiller design, refrigeration engineering, and commercial/industrial HVAC systems.

• Advanced knowledge of system design and integration.

• Proven experience in data center cooling technologies, modular product architecture, and configurable platform design.

• Strong capability in manufacturing process optimization, design-for-cost, and design-for manufacturability.

• Exposure to global HVAC standards, technology benchmarking, and long-term technology roadmap development.
