Role Description

Considering the competitive market landscape and Mahindra’s focus on achieving best-in-class quality in the automotive industry, Lear has identified several improvement areas related to perceived quality, seat appearance, and the sustenance of aesthetic standards.


Lear India is therefore looking to engage a senior technical expert to support improvements across seating assembly processes, as well as trim and foam manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, supplier, plant teams, and the customer to understand current issues.

  • Prioritize identified issues and drive resolution through process improvements, design enhancements, and capability building.

  • Provide guidance on structured, data-driven approaches to resolving appearance-related line and field quality issues.

  • Strengthen PFMEA and control plan robustness to prevent repeat issues and reduce defects during early phases of new product launches.

  • Support stabilization of trim stitching and assembly processes to ensure consistency and quality.

  • Help establish robust and efficient rework process management systems.

  • Advise on eliminating recurring issues in assembly and stitching processes through systemic error-proofing and process discipline.

  • Guide the team in strengthening sub-supplier processes, quality deployment, quality control, and integration of global best practices during development and ramp-up phases.

Skills & Experience Technical Skills Deep knowledge of seat assembly processes, including trim and foam manufacturing, with hands-on development experience in an OEM environment Strong understanding of perceived quality assessment, including fit, finish, aesthetics, and customer perception Proven capability in in-process controls and assembly process management Proficiency in statistical analysis, analytics tools, and structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve line and field quality issues Behavioral Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in high-pressure environments Experience Relevant experience in automotive seating systems or within an OEM environment Exposure to global markets such as Japan, China, or Europe preferred

Lear India team is flexible on the days of on site plant visit and rest is Remote work.
