Advisory Call : Power & Distribution (Transformers & T&D) Expert

Our Client is a New Delhi-based alternative asset management firm seeking an experienced industry expert for a due diligence discussion as part of its investment evaluation process. The firm manages investments across multiple alternative asset classes, including Real Estate, Private Credit, and Venture Capital.

They are looking to engage a senior industry expert having deep experience in the power and distribution transformer manufacturing sector to provide commercial and industry insights during a due diligence discussion. Candidate should have worked with promoter- and family-owned businesses in the transformer or T&D sector.

Sector / Domain Expertise

Power and distribution transformer manufacturing, with emphasis on one or more of the following:

• Power transformers (220kV–765kV) and reactors

• Distribution transformers (11/33kV)

• Specialty/inverter-duty transformers for renewables (solar and wind), railways/traction, and furnace & rectifier duty

Functional Background

Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following:

1. Operating executive (former CEO, COO, President, GM, or VP – Manufacturing/Operations) at a transformer or T&D equipment manufacturer, ideally with experience managing multi-plant operations and owning commercial P&L, including tender pricing, IEEMA price-variation pass-through, customer concentration, CRGO/copper input management, and capacity planning in MVA.

2. Business Development, Strategy, or Corporate Development Head at a transformer or T&D company, with a strong understanding of the private and SME mid-market landscape, including promoter- and family-owned businesses and their balance sheet profiles.

Scale of Experience

Experience managing operations with turnover in the range of INR 150 crore to INR 2,000 crore, including multi-plant P&L ownership. The experience should be anchored in the mid-market segment rather than exclusively in large-cap multinational organizations.
