senior citizen job portal

WisdomCircle is the foremost senior citizen job portal disrupting the traditional recruitment space. It connects the worlds of retirement and recruitment and organisations find experienced and skilled retired professionals. This article will highlight WisdomCircle’s work with one of its oldest recruiters who have trusted them time and again with the most intrinsic and niche business requirements for the company’s growth.

About the Organisation:

Established in 1960, this organisation is a family-run global air compressor manufacturer providing sustainable compressed air solutions. It is headquartered in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu with manufacturing plants spread across different locations in India. It has a presence in over 120 countries globally and a portfolio of more than 400 products. It designs and manufactures a range of compressed air solutions tailored for diverse industrial applications. A pioneer in the industry, it has recently introduced the world’s smallest oil-free screw air compressor.

The Need:

Over time, there have been three very industry-specific, niche requirements where the organisation needed retirees from WisdomCircle.

The organisation had aspirations to enter global markets like The United States of America and Western Europe. They needed these Experts to introduce and streamline functions that were globally competent for this expansion.

  1. Global Finance Expert

The recruiter was looking to hire a finance expert who would work closely with the CEO, study and lay down core competencies of the finance function in the company while streamlining the existing processes. They were expected to have experience in leading global finance organisations, building finance teams, and designing organisational structures. This Expert would also be an advisor and mentor to the CFO.

  1. Technology Expert

The organisation needed a candidate with a specialised engineering degree who would work closely with the CEO and could advise and mentor the Head of Technology. They required this Expert to help develop and implement the technology roadmap for global expansion. The ideal candidate was one who was fluent with the principles of mechanical engineering, understood global standards of quality and design, had experience in organisation design, and could conduct risk assessment. The Expert was also expected to connect the organisation with state-of-the-art labs and companies.

  1. Consultant – Planning and Logistics

The organisation was facing a demand prediction accuracy globally across product groups leading to suboptimal inventory and delays in meeting market-accepted lead-time globally. They needed a Consultant who could create demand forecasting algorithms customised to its low-volume, high-variety products and could identify technology solutions that could be integrated into their existing ERP. They also needed to redesign and implement best practices within the supply chain, order fulfilment, and inventory management processes.

How WisdomCircle Helped:

Once these job opportunities were listed on the platform, applications started coming from the vast Talent Pool of retired professionals that WisdomCircle has. Additionally, WisdomCircle employed the help of their Sourcing team who have a combined Executive Search experience of more than 75 years. They conducted multi-channel sourcing and found candidates relevant for the role. The first set of applications were shared with the recruiters within the first week.

Closure:

The Finance and Technology Expert roles were the first ones that were listed on the platform initially. They took approximately a month to successfully close, right from the job posting to hiring the Expert.

Throughout the whole process of closing these two requirements, the recruiter was impressed with the kind of WisGen* profiles that WisdomCircle had access to and came back to list another role after a few months, that of the Consultant – Planning and Logistics.

This role proved to be more challenging than the first two as it required very niche expertise. However, as they like to say in WisdomCircle, if the person exists in the world for this role, they will find them. And that is exactly what happened. After some back and forth and fine-tuning of job posting with the recruiter, they found the perfect match for the company.

The Hired WisGen:

  1. Global Finance Expert:

The Expert who was hired for this role has 35+ years of experience in finance and has a significant contribution in the growth of a major pharmaceutical company’s capability centre in Bangalore. He scaled the business verticals with a strategic focus on the USA, Japan, and Europe and also served as the Managing Director for the same pharmaceutical company.

Initially, the candidate joined the recruiting organisation for a period of six months, but they were so impressed with his insights and work that they extended his tenure to a year.

  1. Technology Expert:

A PhD in Ocean Engineering, this Expert has more than 25 years of experience in engineering research, product development, design, analysis, technology foresight, and innovation. He has been in leadership technology roles in global companies like General Electric and Airbus.

Similar to the Finance Expert, the candidate joined the recruiter for a period of 6 months which was extended to a year.

  1. Consultant – Planning and Logistics

This Consultant is a highly seasoned executive with more than 34 years of experience in supply chain management, transformation, strategy development, and service delivery. He has worked in leadership positions in companies like Dell and Whirlpool and has recently retired from one of the Big 4.

After a rigorous search, the recruiting organisation was over the moon to find the perfect candidate for this role.

Conclusion:

This case study is just one of the many success stories of how WisdomCircle has found exceptional candidates for all kinds of roles – both niche and generic. It is trusted by companies like Thermax, Suzlon, Teach For India, Thyssenkrupp, etc. who wanted to hire professionals who were retired and close roles quickly and efficiently.
